Teacher Self-Care 101

Though many look to teachers as unsung heroes of the classroom, few ever stop to consider just how draining a profession it can be. On a daily basis, teachers are sacrificing in any conceivable way for the sake of their students. Without realizing it, all of this activity has caused the burnout that the nation is seeing today. This demonstrates the importance of self-care, specifically for teachers. Teachers practice self-care by engaging with an activity or hobby in such a way that relieves any trouble they’re experiencing in their physical, emotional or mental health. These practices are crucial for dealing with stress, avoiding burnout and minimizing compassion fatigue, all typical risks teachers face. It’s clear that these feelings are incredibly overwhelming, but many teachers will fail to ever get over the guilt necessary to practice self-care. Your students benefit when you’re at your best, so never feel guilty for taking time to practice self-care. While this is easier said than done, the truth is there are a number of ways that teachers can practice self-care, even in the classroom. To learn more about those methods, please read on to the resource shared alongside this post.
